Unlocked in Lockdown: Responding to the shadow pandemic of gender violence

Warriors of the Shadow Pandemic is a short clip that acknowledges the work of the counselors who put themselves front and center in the middle of lockdown to extend support to domestic violence survivors. It is no surprise that a massive increase was seen in cases of Domestic Violence after lockdown began – with the physical restrictions it was hard for victims to access support and just as difficult for counselors to find ways to provide that support in terms of connecting with specific bodies to find a quick and effective resolution.

This film brings forth the voices and experiences of counselors working in 3 blocks of Gujarat – from the increase in number of reported cases to the kind of violence faced by women to the strategies they employed to ensure continuous aid.
