Announcement: Working Group Coordinator for the Gender and Public Health Emergencies Working Group

We are excited to announce an opportunity to join the Gender and Public Health Emergencies Working Group (formally the Gender and COVID-19 Working Group) as a Working Group Coordinator. This role will support the ongoing success of the Working Group by planning meetings, building relationships with members, managing the list-serve, overseeing awards, and seeking additional funding.

The Working Group is an active community of practice for researchers, gender practitioners, policymakers, and advocates. It was established in 2020 by a group of academics from public health, international relations, public policy, and development economics to better understand and address the gendered effects of COVID-19 and government responses to the outbreak. Over the past three years the group has grown to over 650 members across academia, civil society, government, and multilateral organizations, and meets virtually on a bi-monthly basis.

The Working Group has continued to be active since its establishment, holding bi-monthly meetings, sharing new resources and opportunities via a list-serve, and producing resources for the Gender and COVID-19 website. As the initiative expands and evolves, the Working Group is being rebranded as the Gender and Public Health Emergencies Working Group to maintain its relevance beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Gender and Public Health Emergencies Working Group is committed to building a global network of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners leading to gender outputs/outcomes. If you are passionate about advancing gender equality in global public health and crisis response, we encourage you to apply. The successful candidate will be engaged as a consultant through Simon Fraser University for a total of 52 days (roughly one day per week) with a total budget of $31,200. The ideal candidate will have experience advancing gender equality and be based in a lower- or middle-income country. Please check the TOR associated with this announcement.
