The Inter-Agency Humanitarian Evaluation on women and girls in emergencies is the first humanitarian system-wide evaluation on women and girls, exploring 10 country case studies, with in-depth analysis in four: Bangladesh, Colombia, Iraq and Nigeria. It has found that there has been notable progress, and that technical gender expertise is a critical success factor in advancing gender equality agenda. Operationalising gender policy into practice, meaningful participation of women in decision making, technical gender expertise at the onset of emergencies, and resources and funding are some of the areas where further investments are needed. The report identifies concrete good practices that have advanced gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, as well as offers recommendations on ways forward.
